The choice was based on 793 national monuments classified by IGESPAR, which was made a first selection, performed by experts and which resulted in a list of seventy-seven monuments. After
It made a new choice, made by a Council composed of eminent personalities from various quarters from which they came the twenty-one finalist monuments.
From December 2006 and for seven months, was made available via the Internet, phone and sms, inter alia, that the vote was to elect the seven monuments favored by the Portuguese.
Obviously, if the choice were mine would set out some of these monuments do not enter the list and others such as the Almendres Cromlech (Évora) (***) or the Roman ruins of Milreu (Faro) (***), but main importance of this competition is only in the dissemination of all these notable points of our heritage.
In the next article will indicate the 21 finalists and chosen as 7 Wonders of Portugal.
