São Bento Train Station (Port) considered one of 14 most beautiful in the world

I congratulate the beautiful city of Porto classified as World Heritage by UNESCO. This reference also serves to compliment the many beautiful railway stations in the country that have, that much due to the force of the landscape and its tile collection, very typical of our cultural heritage Portugal. But the Train station of Saint Benedict (Port) perhaps even more beautiful than temos.Aqui is the news journal Public.

"The Train station of Saint Benedict, no Puerto, was considered one of 14 most beautiful in the world by U.S. magazine Travel Leisure, that highlights the tile panels by Jorge Colaco. The list includes other work of Portuguese architects, but in Mozambique: the train station in Maputo.

The list of 14 most beautiful train stations, of St. Benedict, project architect Marques da Silva and inaugurated in 1915, is highlighted by its stone facade and mansard roofs, and by “20 A Thousand Splendid tiles” created by Jorge Colaco and produced by Factory Ceramics Lusitania, a job that, according to Travel Leisure (T L), will make any visitor “sigh”.
On the walls of the São Bento Train Station may wonder if some episodes in the history of Portugal, as the input D. John I in Port, to celebrate our wedding with D. Filipa de Lencastre, or tournament Arcos de Valdevez.

Besides St. Benedict, a Travel Leisure also highlights the beauty of Maputo station, in Mozambique, the only choice on the African continent and, built between 1913 and 1916, was designed by Portuguese architects Alfredo Augusto Lisboa de Lima, Mario Veiga and Ferreira da Costa (although, mistakenly, is sometimes given as designed by Gustave Eiffel).
The list of beautiful railroad buildings still includes the interior gardens of the Atocha Station, in Madrid, Kanazawa stations (Japan), a Southern Cross Station (Melbourne, Australia), de Sirkeci (Istanbul, Turkey) ou a neogótica S. Pancras International (London, UK).
The United States tops the list with three stations – a Union Station, em Los Angeles; a Union Station, em Washington; and Grand Central Terminal, in New York.
